Evening at the Embassy of Nicaragua with the Ambassador

Having been recently redecorated, the Ambassador and all the diplomats of Nicaragua  are proud and excited to officially welcome you to the Embassy.  Take in the beauty and excitement of Nicaragua , without ever boarding a plane. Step onto foreign soil as we invite you to experience an energetic, culturally magnificent Central American nation at the Embassy of Nicaragua.  Through the food, drink,  music,  diplomats and other cultural aspects of the evening, we'll experience the rich customs of the multiple regions of Nicaragua.

FEATURING:

1) Diplomatic Greeting by the Ambassador
Meet and hear from Ambassador Francisco Campbell and meet leading Nicaraguan diplomats from the embassy and  the several diplomatic staff, who will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

2) OPEN BAR: Nicaraguan Drinks, including Run and Macua
Enjoy a variety of wines, beers and non alcoholic drinks from the surrounding areas.  In addition, the ambassador will be contributing special Nicaraguan rum, not easy to find in the United States.  In addition, we will be preparing a special sampling of its famous signature drink of Nicaragua – Macua.

3) Nicaraguan food
Enjoy a full buffet of Nicaraguan food, including:

  • Curtido de Repollo (Pickled Cabbage Salad)
  • Buñuelos de Yuca y Queso (Yuca and Cheese Fritters)
  • Maduro en gloria (fried, sweet plantains)
  • Gallo Pinto
  • Achiote-Marinated Grilled Chicken
  • Carne Enchorizada Nicaraguense ("Sausage" Beef Nicaraguan Style)
  • Atolillo (Simple Custard)

4) Nicaraguan Music
Nicaraguan music is often hard to describe – since there are so many popular versions. Tonight, we will hear from live Nicaraguan musiancs (with native instruments) and be privy to a special  performance of several different types of Nicaraguan music, including , Cumbia, Merengue, Bolero, ChaCha, Mambo & more!

5) Nicaraguan Art
Marvel at the special painting, figurines and architecture of this special embassy.  History and culture fill the walls that will make you feel as if you were touring a museum in Managua itself. 

6) Film 
A special film highlighting the beauty and culture of Nicaragua  will be on continuous play throughout the event
