It is one of the America’s closest friends in Europe, as well as one of the hottest tourist destination for travelers    Portugal  is a country that embraces a spirit of warmth, elegance, beauty and adventure like no other.

Tonight, the ambassador is opening up his magnificent residence for an exclusive visit for our members.   It is a chance to meet him and the diplomats from the embassy, taste authentic Portuguese cuisine, experience Portuguese culture, enjoy a concert from a native Portuguese artist and marvel at the beauty of this unique residence!

1) DIPLOMATIC GREETING:

His Excellency Ambassador Domingos Teixeira de Abreu Fezas Vital will personally welcome you to his home and offer a remarks about his country. The embassy will also invite other diplomats from different departments of the embassy to meet and greet you and to answer any questions that you may have.

2) PORTUGUESE FOOD PREPARED BY NATIVE CHEFS:

As if we were in a popular restaurant in Lisbon, tonight’s dinner comes from the embassy’s hand-picked Portuguese chef who cooks exclusively for the embassy’s events.    Enjoy samples of exciting native Portuguese food.   The Menu includes
Starters:

Pastéis de bacalhau Codfish cakes
Rissóis de camarão Shrimp patties
Bacon wrap shrimp
Chicken crostini
Chouriço Assado Roasted Chorizo
Salads

Entrees:

Carne de Porco à Alentenana Alentejo Pork
Bacalhau com Natas Codfish cream
Arroz de pato Duck rice.

3) PORTUGUESE WINE& REFRESHMENTS:

A special taste of Portuguese wine, beer, and other nonalcoholic drinks.

4) EXCLUSIVE PORTUGUESE MUSICAL CONCERT

Experience a classical Portuguese concert performed by native cellist Mafalda Santos, with piano accompanist.   We will hear a special concert of classic Portuguese music, representing different historical eras and different regions of their country.

 About the Artist:  Awarded 1st prize from the Marília Rocha Competition at the age of 10, she has since then been the recipient of over 20 awards from prestigious national and international competitions in Portugal, Spain, London and Berlin. In 2018, Mafalda won the Yale Gordon Competition for Orchestral Bowed Strings, becoming the first person to ever be awarded this prize as a first-year Undergraduate.

She performed in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Berliner Philharmoniker, Centro Cultural de Belém and Casa da Música, in concert series such as Shriver Hall and “Thursdays at 7”, the last one with live broadcast by the Portuguese National Radio. She played with orchestras in both the United States and in Europe.

5) PORTUGUESE ART:

Throughout this beautiful residence, we will experience Portuguese paintings and artifacts.

6) FILM:

Experience a film showcasing the beauty and culture of Portugal

Because of the nature of the event, we are limiting the number of people who attend.   So, early registration is encouraged.

Note:  This event is not being organized by the embassy   all funds collected are going to help with the expenses of the event and are not going to the embassy at all.  The embassy is not receiving any profit or funds towards this event.
