Yes, trick or treating house to house was cool when we were kids. But what about country to country?

Halloween is not just for kids anymore and it is not just about visiting your schoolmates’ parents. Tonight, we take trick or treating to a whole new level – an international level. Tour the world with a single walk through Dupont Circle and Embassy Row. Enjoy distinct international candy representing countries from every continent.

As we trick or treat on international soil, we will be joined by one of Washington’s leading tour guides to enlighten us on Embassy Row, the mysteries and origins around these fantastic buildings, and the stories within their walls. We’ll also learn about this grand boulevard with the most impressive turn-of-the-century residences in the city, many designed in the French Beaux-Arts style. In addition to viewing beautiful architecture, we will hear stories about the families who once resided in these stately palaces. Fabulous wealth, extravagant parties, scandals–even “the curse of the Hope Diamond,” are mixed with a glimpse of the life led by Washington’s diplomatic community today.

Along the way, who knows – perhaps the haunted spirit of many past ambassadors will join us and try to steal our candy.

Note: We will be knocking on the doors of several embassies and Ambassador’s Residences along the way. In year’s past, we have been successful at getting tours in 5 to 6 different spaces. However, this is not guaranteed. We do not know if we will be successful at entering ten embassies/residences or even one. We will be trying to coordinate with some embassies as we get closer. TTD will, however, have some candy on hand representing different countries.
