Journey into the heart of African pride and history as we experience the mysteries and the culture of South Africa. 

Step onto foreign soil as we travel halfway across the world without ever leaving the District for a multi-faceted unique and celebratory Thursday night! Join your fellow young professionals for a special evening of South African food, drinks, music, cultural dancing, fashion, diplomats, film, and more! 

FEATURING: 

A) Authentic BBQ – BRAAI from South Africa

While America is no strangers to a Summer BBQ,   tonight we enjoy one with a twist that originates from the other side of the world in South Africa!   The chef will prepare a special BBQ buffet - in South Africa known as a braai.   (It originated with the Afrikaner people, but has since been adopted by South Africans of citizens of any background).  

B) South African (Open Bar): 
Sample the best and most treasured South African wines as well as beer and nonalcoholic drinks.

C) Special Musical and Dance Presentation from South Africa:
Enjoy an authentic South African Dance Show. Experience a very unique performance of native music and dance, along with a cultural explanation as to the each element's origin, style and meaning. 

D) Diplomatic Greeting
Hear from the diplomats from South Africa and feel free and network with them during the reception.  At present we have invited the ambassador and are hoping for his presence.  

E) South African Art: 
The embassy has arranged for the presentation of traditional masks, attire, paintings, as well as other special artifacts and paintings unseen to most Americans' eyes.

G) South African Cultural Film: 
At your leisure, you are invited to watch recurring films showcasing South Africa’s cities, mountains, borders, landscape, people, tribes, animals, safari tours, everyday culture and much much more.
