Tonight, you are invited to step upon foreign soil as we experience a cultural evening with our South American friends at the Embassy of the Paraguay.

Featuring:

1. PARAGUAYAN FOOD.

Buffet of Paraguayan delicacies. Including:

  • VORI VORI        
  • Sopa so’o
  • Chipa Guazu
  • Mini Empandas de mandioca (yucca)
  • Dessert: arroz con leche

Also, we will try traditional Paraguayan tea “COCIDO” with chipa

 

2. PARAGUAYAN OPEN BAR.

Partake in wines and beer commonly found in Paraguay.

3. PARAGUAYAN DANCE PRESENTATION - The Baile de Las Botellas.

Experience a native Paraguayan dance presentation that evokes the history, culture and regional distinctions of Paraguay. A special featured dance is called the baile de las botellas (bottles dance).

We will also feature a performance from Paraguayan dancers to traditional music with “pitcher”.

4. DIPLOMATIC GREETING.

Hear from the Ambassador Germán Rojas as you network with him and the Paraguayan diplomatic staff, all of whom have been invited to this special evening.

5. PARAGUAYAN FILM.

Enjoy a special film highlighting the culture and scenery of Paraguay.

6. SPECIAL SILENT AUCTION.

The Paraguay DC Professional network, along with the Embassy of Paraguay, is pleased to host a silent auction of more than 10 paintings and crafts of Paraguayan artists, who have donated their works to benefit the indigenous community ‘Ava Guarani Yari Miri’ from Ita, Paraguay.

With the help of various civil soiety organizations, the local government, and the Paraguay DC Network, the community’s families have now settled on their own land. The community is also building a center that they plan to use for health and education issues. The Network also supports scholarships for the community’s youth.

The paintings and crafts will be exhibited on the day of the event and all proceeds will benefit the works of the Ava Guarani Yari Miri Indigenous Community.
