Tonight, you are invited to embrace the season where very few else can say - ON MEXICAN SOIL!

At this special gala, we will be combining the American Halloween season with the treasured Mexican holiday/spiritual event. You’ll be transported into a world filled with the wonders of the PreColombian legends and the beauty of Mexican beaches as we celebrate the holidays with our unique International Touch.

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is Mexican holiday observed throughout Mexico. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to  remember beloved ones that have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico. (Wikipedia.com)

This evening, we invite you to come in either black tie (optional) or masquerade style (optional) and dance as they do on the most elegant (and eerie) of dance floors and ballrooms of throughout Mexico

DAY OF THE DEAD LIVE MARIACHI DANCING AND MUSIC:
To commerate the spirit of Día de los Muertos, you’ll experience a live costumed Mariachi troupe with music and dancing. Its members have origins from all over Mexico and other parts of Latin America. The traditional mariachi ensemble emerged in the 1800′s in several western states of Mexico, including Jalisco, Nayarit, Colima, and Michoacán, among others.

Native dancers will be on hand to perform and teach traditional Mexican (and Día de los Muertos) dancing, in addition to performing an amazing, authentic Mariachi dance performance with traditional costumes!

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ALTAR
As you likely never have seen before, the Mexican Cultural Institute will be displaying a Day of the Dead Altar. Tonight, we will take part in a celebration that tries to awaken the dead to join us in a Mexican and American Halloween Style celebration.

See the remarkable décor of the historic mansion that hosts the Mexican Cultural Institute and learn about their fantastic murals.

DJ AND LATE NIGHT DANCING:
One of Washington, D.C.’s best D.J.s will rival the best nightclubs in Cancun with both American and Mexican pop music and dancing. Includes modern high energy, Retro, Salsa, today’s top 40 hits, and much more!

The Embassy’s Cultural Center is a unique and beautiful building, one of the best of its kind in the world. It contains several large floors, each displaying the charms of the different regions of our neighbor to the south.
