Come “visit” the only place our first President (George Washington) ever traveled to outside of the USA!
What better way to embrace the final weeks of our beautiful summer than soaking in the aura of the Caribbean? But, if you cannot get there, we are delivering this island to you with a diplomatic touch! Join your fellow young professionals as we step onto foreign soil for an exciting evening at the Embassy of Barbados! This is also a special opportunity to meet the new Ambassador from Barbados!
In a special cultural evening, we will immerse ourselves in the culture of this Caribbean Jewel of elegance, charm, music, dance, great food, laughter and more!
Featuring:
1) ) DJ PUMPKIN OF BARBADOS:
Join us for the incredible talents of DJ PUMPMIN – one of the hottest and most well-known reggae/calypso/island DJs around! Playing Barbados/Caribbean style music, he will take us on a fantastic musical voyage to Barbados as we dance to the Island’s music, participate in a limbo contest, conga line, and recreate an island atmosphere! We’ll also dance to retro and modern high energy club music.
2) BARBADOS FOOD:
Enjoy a specially prepared buffet of authentic food native to Barbados. Including:
Codfish Cakes
Fried Plantain
Island Slaw
Rice and Peas
Bajan-Style Baked Chicken
Green Banana with Salt Fish
Sunshine Rum Cake with Rum Sauce
3) CARIBBEAN OPEN BAR including RUM:
This evening, we will pair off regional wines and sample Island cocktails – especially Barbados Rum!
4) DIPLOMATIC GREETING WITH AMBASSADOR:
Meet the new Ambassador and some of the diplomats from Barbados including a special diplomatic greeting!
5) FILM:
Enjoy a short film on the beautiful scenery, culture and people of Barbados.
6) Charity: A portion of the proceeds from tonight’s event will be donated to The Thelma Vaughn Memorial Home in Barbados – serving the needs of physically challenged children.
7) WIN A TRIP TO THE CARIBBEAN: A Drawing will be held where one lucky winner will take home a trip to the Caribbean – Plane and Hotel included!
